One of the features of the site is a film that highlights the conflict, and features some very powerful images from Cedric Gerbehaye. I’ve been given permission to post a few of them here, and I encourage you to look at them, and then go discover what you can about this region, and the ongoing humanitarian crisis there. And give. Donate money and time.

The irony of this is, our current news cycle seems to be fixated on who President-Elect Obama will choose for his Secretary of State, and this situation, which involves millions of people, and will certainly come across that secretary’s desk at some point, gets no mention at all.

Saturday morning Abilene held it’s annual Veteran’s Day Parade. It was about 50 degrees, with a strong wind, but a ton of people turned out downtown to see the various parade groups. This old guy, a vet from Korea, chatted with me for a few minutes, and thanked me for taking his picture.

So, it’s about time to order up some new Moo Mini-Cards. I printed a ton of these last year, and now they’re almost all gone. But, this time, instead of using random photos from my Flickr stream, I thought I would go with something a little more catchy. People always commented on the smaller size of these cards, and now, perhaps, the interesting wording will help the name stick.

This would be on the front, and on the back, my name and the relevant contact information.

I dunno. I just liked the looks of this corner near my office, on my way out the door the other day.

I don’t shoot sports that often. I really don’t have a passion for it, or anything more than a passing interest in it, and I believe you need those to make good pictures. But, sometimes the graphic elements are interesting.

A little chicken from a Trunk or Treat event I shot last week. Cute.

From a Book Festival a few weeks back. Author Stephen Hardin poses with his book and a few extra props while promoting his new book, “a melancholy tale of a hanging in early Houston.”

This dude reminded me of Daniel Day Lewis’ character in “There Will Be Blood.” I know he didn’t play the preacher man, but the facial hair really made me think. If he had mentioned a milk shake, I would have bolted.

Hmmm.

Some church services end with pie and coffee. Some end with throwing a 400-lb. calf to the ground and tying its legs together. And, it’s fun for the whole family!

I went to the hospital, got to scrub in and put on this awesome gown, and was escorted into the NICU. I met the parents, and was then introduced to these tiny, beautiful little twins. Antonio and Alana were born about eight weeks early. Antonio was about 3.5lbs, and Alana weighed in at a dainty 2 lbs. 6 ounces. I had never seen a baby that small.

The family was very gracious and warm, and I hope to see them again once they get the babies home. It is always an honor to be allowed access into people’s lives, and I hope these images show the family and this episode from their lives with dignity and respect.
