On this day, last year, I was snapped this shot of my right foot (again, playing with the DOF on my 50mm 1.4) while waiting in the hallway to photograph some of men I had met through the Innocence Project of Texas.
A few weeks previously, Sara and I had been watching The Colbert Report when they featured The Innocence Project. I was intrigued, and hopped on the internet, and found out Texas had its own branch of the program. I contacted them, basically saying I was a photographer interested in volunteering my services if they could use them, and they called back a while later, telling me about an opportunity. They were having a training session for law students, and many of the men they had helped free from the Texas prison system would be there, and if I was able to make it, I could help them produce some images to be used in publicity.
I went, I heard some amazing stories, I shot some pictures, and hopefully they’ve been used to raise the profile of this great organization, which is truly seeking justice for those wrongly accused.

That’s a solid project that does things the right way. Unfortunately, they don’t get enough press. It’s probably because most people think folks in prison are guilty of something, even if it isn’t the crimes for which they’re doing time.
Truly sad.

Thanks for the mention Greg. I am just getting caught up from this weekend’s conference, but I will make sure to touch base with you next week about the project you proposed.
Thanks,
